Carla Rabitti Bedogni, was born in Modena on 26 November 1939. She is married with two grown-up children and one young grandchild. A jurist and commercial law scholar, she is Professor of Financial Markets Law at the Faculty of Economics of the La Sapienza University of Rome. She is the Scientific Director of the Banking, Financial and Insurance Intermediaries Specialisation Course in Community and Domestic Law . She has given courses in Commercial Law and Industrial Law. She is an advocate before the Supreme Court of Cassation and has been a Member of the Board of Directors of several investment management firms. She served as Commissioner of Consob from April 2002 April 2007. She was appointed Member of the Company Law Reform Commission in her capacity as an expert on management and auditing, and of the Insurance Law Consolidation Commission. She organised the 1st International Insider Trading Conference in Italy. She has addressed and delivered papers at major conferences on the securities market. She has published numerous monographic studies on topics relating to competition and investment law, financial market law and consumers’ rights, and coordinated and edited various series of publications, including a wide-ranging commentary on the Consolidated Finance Law. On 3 March 2007 she was appointed to the Competition Authority.
