Since November 2007, the Antitrust Authority has hosted a toll-free number where consumers can report alleged cases of unfair commercial practices. Whenever there are sufficient grounds for suspicion pursuant to and in accordance with the laws in force, the Antitrust offices follow up on such reports with in-depth investigations. This service, available Monday-Friday from 10 am to 2 pm, was established by the Antitrust Authority after the entry into force of two Legislative Decrees that expanded its competencies and powers in relation to consumer protection matters. Starting 2010, the website includes a model report form for matters concerning consumer protection, misleading and unlawful comparative advertising.
