The importance of combating more significant anti-competitive agreements has led the Authority to adopt a leniency program of its own.

In accordance with Community law, in fact, the Antitrust Authority may opt to cancel or reduce the pecuniary administrative fines for agreements restricting competition if the companies involved collaborate fully and effectively by providing elements that are useful for assessing the violation.

This power derives from Section 15(2 bis) of Law no. 287/90, and the Antitrust Authority has issued a special notice outlining the conditions and procedures for applying for the leniency program.
